Honolulu–Scheduled to welcome its first residents later this month, Kalākaua Gardens is the first senior living community in Hawaii to provide a comprehensive continuum of care under the same roof, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation services and Medicare approved skilled nursing and hospice.
The 17-story high-rise building is located at 1723 Kalakaua Ave. in Honolulu, across the street from the Convention Center.
Offering a people-first approach to fees, the property is also the only monthly rental retirement community in the Aloha State that does not require a long-term endowment.
Kalākaua Gardens will be managed by nursing home operator Avalon Health Care Group and will be centered on the ‘ohana (family-style) living, as well as friendships, community, hobbies, exceptional health and well-being.
Steve Nawahine, the property’s general manager, has selected a local team of experts in senior living, health and medical care, who he believes stand out for their genuine care, compassion and love for what they do.
“Our Kalākaua Gardens ʻohana is truly excited to open our doors later this month to our very first residents and give them the best life they can possibly live. Our services, amenities and experiences are very similar to staying at a resort, but you’re in a community where everyone interacts, cares and knows each other,” Nawahine said in prepared remarks.
Seniors at Kalākaua Gardens will have the opportunity to enjoy resort-style amenities, such as a movie theater, fitness center, salon and spa, complimentary Wi-Fi, cable television, housekeeping, linen services, chauffeur, social outings and special events. The community will also serve restaurant-style dining prepared by an experienced chef using the best and freshest local produce.
