Hines completed the entitlement phase of its first Arizona-based, single-family residential project, Asteria Highlands. The North Scottsdale City Council approved the final zoning permits required for the project. The gated community will be located at 128 St. in North Scottsdale, adjacent to two master-planned communities—Sereno Canyon and Storyrock. Construction on Asteria Highlands will begin in 2018, with an expected completion date in early 2019. Hines broke ground earlier this year on another project in California, the MacArthur Commons apartment community, also due for completion in 2019.
The great outdoors
The project occupies 40 acres and will comprise 31 single-family lots. Plenty of outdoor activities will be available to residents of the community, including hiking opportunities, equestrian trails and hunting areas. Several golf clubs are nearby as well, such as Golf Club Scottsdale and Troon North Golf Club. Hines stated that it intends to preserve the surroundings, which include the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Pinnacle Peak and Tom’s Thumb Trailhead hiking area. “The site’s location in the North Scottsdale submarket, with proximity to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and outdoor activities, makes Asteria Highlands the perfect project to launch Hines’ entry into the Arizona single-family residential market,” said Chris Anderson, managing director and Arizona leader for Hines, in a prepared statement.
