A Full-Building Access Solution

Latch is one of the few smart access systems on the market designed specifically for multifamily users. With a wide range of access options and a built-in security camera, it is tailored for ease of resident and management use alike.

latchElectronic access to commercial buildings is basically a given, and the trend has even made its way into residential markets with products such as the August Smart Lock, Kwikset’s Kevo and the Schlage Connect Camelot. However, not many solutions fit the needs of multifamily properties, which have the management and security requirements of a commercial building with the privacy and accessibility needed for residential.

Latch, a New York City-based company founded by a team of former Apple employees, introduced a smart access system designed specifically for multifamily users. The Latch system allows residents in apartment buildings to unlock their doors with smartphone apps, keycards or special door codes, all while providing security through the lock’s wide-angle camera and digital log. The system supports a range of access sharing features that allow residents to give temporary access to guests, delivery providers or management without physically being there.

The suite of Latch products were designed by Thomas Meyerhoffer, the company’s co-founder & chief design officer, an award-winning designer who has been recognized for much of his previous work, including during his time at Apple. It’s very exciting for us to have more people using our system designed for the new life patterns in today’s built environments.” Meyerhoffer said in a prepared statement.

The company, which boasts a long list of multifamily clients, ensured that all products are certified to meet fire and building codes for multi-unit buildings, optimizing its use for residents and owners alike.

The Latch System is available for reservation for retrofit or new construction, and installation and support are offered by the company’s nationwide distribution network. More information can be obtained by contacting Matt Skoro at matt.skoro@latch.com.
