London-based architecture firm Foster + Partners has completed its first residential development in Beirut, totaling more than 1 million square feet.  SV Properties & Construction was the developer, while local company Samir Khairallah & Partners was the collaborating architecture firm.

3Beirut is located on Omar Daouk Rd., in close proximity to Zaitunay Bay. The building is part of the Solidere master-plan for the regeneration of Beirut’s central district and is situated in Sector B—a mixed-use, hospitality-dominated area.

Pedestrian-friendly setting

The residential property comprises three towers of gradually increasing height, bound together by ground-level landscaped areas. New pedestrian routes cross the site, connecting the historic center to the harbor. Public amenities like shops, cafes, restaurants, a fitness center and an art gallery animate the ground floor.

With over 75 percent of the apartments now sold, and the first residents moving in earlier this summer, the development embodies the unique vibrancy of the city. A wide range of amenities, including a leisure suite, featuring a 26-meter (85 feet) pool and gym, and the McLaren showroom on the ground floor were inaugurated recently, bringing life to the area,” said Faris Smadi, CEO of SV Properties & Construction, in a prepared statement.

Foster + Partners is also responsible for the design of the 1,121-foot tall Comcast Technology Center, soon to open as the tallest building in the U.S.
