Leland, N.C.—Harrington Village Holdings LLC, led by D Logan of Logan Homes and the Town of Leland, recently announced the groundbreaking for Harrington Village and Harrington Square, a first-of-its-kind upscale urban town center. The new $32 million, 19-acre development represents the largest amount of commercial space to be constructed within the city of Leland in the last 20 years.

The development sits just north of Village Road, on one of the most traveled intersections in the area. Being less than a mile away from the Ocean Highway East, more than 60,000 cars pass the location every day. The residential component of the new development, Harrington Village, will offer 309 garden-style one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The amenity package includes a pool, fitness area, amenity club building, playground and neighborhood dog park. Harrington Square, the retail offering in the development, consists of approximately 30,000 square feet of retail and office space.

“The goal of the retail center is to ignite economic growth on Village Road and provide an upscale urban center more in line with the trends of walkable towns today, creating connectivity and community. We are wanting to give people more and better options on this side of the Cape Fear River Bridge. We are entertaining conversations with such business as a brewery, a boutique restaurant, a low-country breakfast restaurant, a furniture store, a shoe store and more service-focused offerings such as tax preparers, small medical offices and private fitness instruction. This town center will draw people from miles away because of its convenient location and easy access,” said Shirley Logan, commercial broker with Coldwell Banker Sun Coast Partners.

Harrington Village and Harrington Square are part of the first development to be built under Leland’s new FlexCode. The FlexCode was created to help the city develop a more walkable downtown.
