Dubai, UAE—A 500-key new-build hotel is coming to Dubai in 2018, adding to the city’s already crowded skyline.

Minor Hotel Group (MHG) is partnering with Nakheel to co-invest and develop the Avani Deira Dubai Hotel, the first Avani-branded hotel in the UAE. The hotel will be located in Deira Islands, a massive waterfront mixed-use destination developed by Nakheel comprised of four islands adjacent to the city’s Deira district.

Beside the new Avani hotel, Deira Islands will incorporate a mix of beachfront hotels and residential communities, a shopping mall, a waterfront night market and an amphitheater to accommodate up to 30,000 people.

“Our strategy is to join forces with international partners who are serious about being part of Deira Islands, and then bring a range of new, international brands to this new waterfront city,” said Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah. “Nakheel now has 1,250 new hotel rooms in the pipeline through joint ventures at Deira Islands, with more exciting partnerships under negotiation.”

The Avani Deira Dubai hotel will be closely located to Dubai International Airport and will offer guests views of the city skyline and the Arabian Gulf. MHG’s Avani brand was launched in 2011 and currently has 13 hotels in operation.
