Del Webb has announced plans to open Southern Springs by Del Webb, an active adult community in Spring Hill. The project marks the brand’s second property in the state, after Lake Providence by Del Webb opened with more than 1,000 new homes in Mt. Juliet.

Plans for Southern Springs by Del Webb call for 600 homes on approximately 300 acres of land. The community is expected to break ground in January 2016, with an official grand opening scheduled for spring 2017. Amenities will include clubhouse, tennis and pickleball courts, indoor pool, and outdoor resort style pool.

“There continues to be strong interest and demand for a Del Webb community in the greater Nashville area,” Jon Cherry, the company’s division president in Tennessee, said in prepared remarks. According to Cherry, this development comes in response to a growing trend among baby boomers who seek the vibrant lifestyle choices that Del Webb provides, but who prefer to stay within close proximity of family and friends.

“Of the 76 million baby boomers in this country, 50 percent are between the ages of 50 and 58, which makes the over-50 buyer one of the fastest-growing consumer groups. With the recent completion of our Lake Providence community, there is no active adult community to meet the housing and lifestyle needs of the active baby boomer in Tennessee,” Cherry added.

Three design collections will be available at the new community: Passport Series, with 2-bedroom homes sized between 1,234 and 1,424 square feet; Expedition Series, with 2-bedroom homes sized between 1,655 and 1,962 square feet; as well as Pinnacle Series, with 2-bedroom homes sized between 2,264 and 2,565 square feet.
