The Champion Cos. plans to break ground early this year on their latest multifamily development in Powell, Ohio. Known as Powell Crossing, the community’s first units are scheduled for delivery by fall this year.
Located on the southern side of Powell Road and to the west of the City of Powell’s municipal building, the project site is four miles from U.S. Highway 23, enabling direct access to downtown Columbus less than 20 miles away. The property sits near the city’s Liberty Street retail corridor, which offers a range of restaurants, shops and clinics.
A mix of residential and retail
The community will consists of 64 apartments across four two-story buildings. Two separate buildings, featuring around 16,400 square feet of retail space, will also be constructed next to Powell Road. While retail tenants have not yet been confirmed, an upscale restaurant is expected to lease some of the space. The garden apartment development’s mix of one- and two-bedroom units will range in size from 724 to 1,034 square feet. Garages are available for residents, and all apartments will be equipped with in-unit washers and dryers.
“This is a very rare and exciting opportunity to bring the residents of Powell something that they will be proud of for years to come. We’re very excited to build a first class apartment and retail site in the heart of Powell,” said Dan Hunter, chief investment officer of The Champion Cos., in a prepared statement.
A number of other multifamily projects are in various stages of development in the greater Columbus area, including a 230-unit mixed-use development underway in the downtown area.
