Cali Bamboo Introduces First Composite Deck Made from Bamboo

San Diego, Calif.—Yes, MHN made a quick visit to the composite deck sector two weeks ago and we are back again. But news of a composite deck made from 100 percent recycled material is too good to pass up.

Cali Bamboo has upped the bar for composite decks with its new BamDeck Composite Bamboo Decking. Though the decks have always been made with 100 percent recycled material, the ultra-durable material is now being built with 60 percent recycled bamboo fiber and 40 percent recycled high density polyethylene plastics (HDPE). These are your number ‘2’ plastics, coming from sources like bottles, laundry detergent containers, plastics bags and water pipes.

Not only is BamDeck green, but the material is four times stronger and absorbs 10 times less water than other composite deck products. Cali Bamboo’s decking is also slip resistant and compliant with the ADA act, which should always be at the top of the apartment builders’ check list.

The bamboo used in BamDeck is more dense than the wood pulp used in traditional composite decks, so it is naturally termite resistant as well. The LEED qualified product is available for purchase national wide and comes with a 10-year commercial warranty. There are two surface textures and four colors available, so your design team with be able to create a customized look on that next amenity space.
