ButterflyMX Launches QR Code-Activated Intercom System
The solution is the first of its kind in the industry, and is intended for budget-conscious owners, operators and developers.

Access control systems provider ButterflyMX has launched the industry’s first QR Code-activated intercom system. The security solution, intended for budget-fconscious alternative for multifamily and commercial real estate developers of all shapes and sizes, owners and operators, simplifies both the installation and usage of traditionally expensive intercom and door control systems.
How it works
Instead of interfacing with access control hardware that can often be expensive to install and maintain, operators mount a laser-etched QR code plaque to doors leading to the areas that they would like to delegate access to. These areas can include primary and secondary entrances, garages and amenity spaces. Scanning the code with a smartphone camera leads users to a web-based intercom system that includes one-way video, two-way audio and a searchable resident directory.
The plaques can be made of weather-resistant stainless steel, brass or anodized aluminum, while the software includes end-to-end- encryption, rate limiting, geofencing and fully traceable audit trails. ButterflyMX’s new solution can also be integrated with the company’s other video intercom, security cameras and access control systems. Property residents and office tenants with pre-determined access to designated areas can also continue using the app to manage remote access and unlock doors.
