Amenities are a very important aspect for students in search for a place to stay. So now that the school year is about to begin, property managers should prep their communities and put their best amenities to use, as nowadays students are looking for not only the best features but also for a great experience.
Students spend a good amount of their free time in the community, so you should always find new and exciting ways to keep them entertained. Here are a few events that you can organize and will ensure you greater resident satisfaction that can benefit your renewal rate.
Host a Barbecue
Upgrade your usual poolside cookout with a backyard smoker, and host an authentic barbecue cookout where residents can meet and socialize while the food is cooking. And don’t forget your vegetarian residents! There are plenty of veggies and meatless burgers for everyone. Property managers can also provide board games or organize some lawn games.
Promote a healthy lifestyle
More and more people, especially students and the younger generation, are more aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. To check off that box, you can hold an instructional yoga, Zumba, aerobic—or any type of exercise—class. You can either organize morning/evening yoga sessions, indoor/outdoor aerobic classes or some daily weight-training or body-weight classes. If you feel adventurous enough, you can plan hiking trips in the nearby area or even running competitions.
Have movie nights
If your property offers a movie room, or if allows you to place an outdoor inflatable screen, you can organize a movie night. You could even make a weekly or monthly event out of this. Pop some popcorn, lay over some blankets and everyone will have a great time and remember your community.
Encourage cooking
Another great way to keep residents interacting with each other is to organize cooking classes. This is also a great way for students to save some money. You can hold a cook-off challenge and invite the community to judge it.
