Austin’s Condo Craze Continues with New Mixed-Use Development

The master redevelopment of the Green Water Treatment Plant near the corner of Cesar Chavez and San Antonio streets includes a 32-story LEED Gold registered high-rise placed on the shores of Lady Bird Lake.

The development has big local and international names on its side. California-headquartered The Kor Group is the developer in affiliation with Proper Hospitality, while Trammel Crow Co. in collaboration with the City of Austin is behind the master development of the former Green Water Treatment Plant. Interiors will be designed by Kelly Wearstler, the dining options will be delivered by Austin-based McGuire Moorman Hospitality, and Handel Architects will be responsible for the design of the high-rise.

Austin Proper Residences is a collection of 100 residences and penthouses above the 243-room Austin Proper Hotel, a hospitality brand launched back in January. The project is due to come online in 2017 in the Second Street district. The developers and recently has launched a new microsite with a “priority interest list” for prospective condo owners. Residential sales start in August 2015, with Will Steakley of DEN Property Group in partnership with Kor sales and marketing leading the sales team locally.

Buyers will choose from one-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments ranging from 850 to 2,800 square feet, and one- and two-story penthouses ranging from 3,300 to 6,000 square feet. No prices were yet disclosed. Amenities include dedicated doormen and concierges, two roof decks with swimming pools, full spa and fitness center, a signature lobby restaurant and lounge, a coffee shop, and an elevated poolside restaurant. Furthermore, the condo residents will be able to take advantage of the hotel’s offerings such as housekeeping and 24-hour room service.
