Aegis Living has opened Aegis Living Mercer Island, an 89-unit senior community near Seattle. The development team, which included Ankrom Moisan Architects and Compass Construction, broke ground on the project in late 2017.

The community is located at 7445 S.E. 24th St. in Mercer Island, Wash., near Interstate 90 and 5 miles from downtown Seattle. There are several shopping and dining options in the immediate area, and the Aubrey Davis Park is a short walk to the north.

The 104,000-square-foot lodge-inspired building features 89 assisted living, memory care and short-term care units with studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floorplans. The property’s amenities include a spa, therapy pool, theater and art room.

This is the first Aegis Living community in Mercer Island and the 22nd in Washington State. The firm has plans to open another five by 2022. Although development of senior housing has slowed alongside falling national occupancy rates, overall demand remains strong.
