5 Ideas for Throwing a Game of Thrones Party at Your Apartment Community

Are you ready for the final season? Of course you are! Here are some fun suggestions for a themed resident event.

Who’s excited for Game of Thrones‘ final season premier this Sunday? Everyone, that’s who. Actually, I was a little late to the game, but finally came around (thanks to an extremely patient husband who would pause the show to explain who each character was and who they are related to). I’m in the middle of season seven now, so I will hopefully be all caught up be the premier. So no spoilers, please! Also, if you haven’t seen it at all, there are probably (definitely) spoilers in this blog. Sorry.

But, since a good portion of your community is probably watching the show, why not take advantage of the excitement and throw a Game of Thrones theme party for your residents?

Here are some ideas.

Viewing Party: Duh. This one is the most obvious. And the easiest. However, some squares might not think it’s “appropriate” to play the show where anyone, including children (or “little birds”) can walk in and see something so violent/graphic/dragon-y. So use your best judgment.

Photo Both with Props: Get yourself an Iron Throne replica (or just a large poster of one) and a platinum Khaleesi wig (everyone looks good in a platinum Khaleesi wig), and you’ll be good to go. And ask your residents to tag the community with their social media posts, so everyone can see the fun. Make sure to post on the community pages as well!

“Fire and Ice” Treats: Celebrate the meeting of the Mother of Dragons and the King of the North (for now? Again, I’m only partway through season seven) with delicious themed snacks—for example, s’mores and Sno-Cones!

Mask Making: A resident may have a name (it’s your job to find it out, too), but they can still help add some faces to Arya’s bag of tricks! Buy some blank masks, as well as glitter, feathers and other fun decorations for any of your craftier renters.

Wildfire Slime: This one is for the kids. Yay! Why should kids be excluded from Game of Thrones? (*Re-watches literally any episode.* Oh. That’s why.) Making slime is huge now with kids. There are kits you can buy, but you can also find recipes online that use household products (just make sure this project is supervised if you do this, because some of the ingredients are chemicals). Dye the slime green, and boom, wildfire! Even better if you have a babysitter for the kids in another room so the parents can really let loose (and make their own slime without having to share it with the kids).
