Wood Partners Starts Work on Georgia Apartment Community

The 274-unit project is the developer's second in this Atlanta suburb.

Wood Partners has broken ground on Alta Newnan Crossing, a 274-unit multifamily community located in Newnan, Ga., about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta. The project, slated for completion in the fall of 2027, is also Wood Partners’ second development in the town.

When it comes online, Alta Newnan Crossing will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom multifamily units, as well as additional townhomes and retail space. The townhomes each include three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and each has a two-car garage.

Common-area amenities at the community will include a clubhouse, a fitness facility, a package room, coworking space, a retail courtyard and a resort-style pool. Residents will also have immediate access to 7,000 square feet of retail space at the development, and the site will  provide connectivity to the LINC Trail, Newnan’s multi-use path system.

Newnan, which is in Coweta County, has been the focus of growth in recent years. According to the 2020 Census, its population was 42,549, up from 33,039 in 2010.

A continued expansion

Wood Partners has continued its development trajectory in the Sun Belt and Mountain West throughout the past year.

In Florida, the developer recently acquired 11.65 acres to build Alta Roosevelt, a 381-unit community in St. Petersburg. Wood Partners is tearing down an existing office building at the site to make room for the new five-story structure.

In February, Wood Partners broke ground on Alta Timberline, a 204-unit multifamily community in Tomball, a suburb of Houston. Completion is slated for May 2027.

In Colorado, the firm, in a joint venture with Clarion Partners, broke ground in December on Alta Metro Center, a 365-unit multifamily project located in Aurora. The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2028.

The company currently owns more than 80 properties across the United States, totaling about 25,000 units. Headquartered in Atlanta, Wood Partners has offices in 17 major markets.
