Charlotte, N.C.—Alta Berewick, a 266-unit multifamily community in Charlotte, has broken ground. This is the 15th community developed by Wood Partners in North Carolina, where the company has built more than 2,900 units since 2001.

Situated on a 16-acre parcel at 5503 Dixie River Road, Alta Berewick is expected to be complete in late 2016. Leasing will begin in February of next year.

The community will feature apartment configurations ranging from one to three bedroom floor plans across a trio of three-story structures, one four-story manor building and seven carriage buildings with garages.

Among the features of the apartments will be stainless steel appliances, washers and dryers, granite countertops, brushed nickel hardware and wood-like flooring.

The common area amenities of Alta Berewick will include a fitness center, resort-style pool, clubroom, cyber café and playground.

Alta Berewick residents will be able to take advantage of nearby recreational opportunities that include Lake Wylie, a 12,500-acre recreational park. Also in close proximity is the U.S. National Whitewater Center, a recreational and athletic training center for hiking, kayaking and rafting.

Plentiful shopping opportunities will also be available to residents. Right across the street is new Charlotte Premium Outlets mall. The Rivergate and Steelcraft shopping centers can be accessed by motoring less than four miles to the south.

As well, Alta Berewick is close to major local employers including Microsoft Corporation, Time Warner, Frito-Lay Inc., Siemens USA, Equifirst Corporation, Sun Chemical, Goodrich Corporation and General Motors Company.

According to a National Association of Home Builders formula, in typical metropolitan areas, adding 266 rental apartments will add to the local economy 117 local jobs, $31.1 million in local income and $5.8 million in taxes and other revenue for local government.

Alta Berewick was designed by Cline Design Associates. Once it is complete, the community will be managed by Wood Residential Services. WP East Builders is the general contractor on the project. Sumitomo Corporation of Americas was the equity partner.
