Wood Partners has broken ground on Alta Woodson, a 140-unit apartment community in downtown Oakland. Earlier this month, the firm closed on the acquisition of the site, and it expects the seven-story development to be completed by fall 2019. In addition to this project, Wood Partners is constructing a mid-rise apartment community in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill district.

Located at 625 15th St., the property sits near the heart of the city’s business district. Numerous shopping and dining options are a short walk away, and Oakland’s 12th Street BART station is four blocks to the southeast, enabling rapid access to San Francisco and the wider Bay Area region.

Additionally, the building will sit close to interstates 880 and 980, with the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge approximately three miles away. The community will include studio, one- and two-bedroom unit options, with an overall average of 670 square feet per apartment. Planned resident amenities include a communal lounge area, a fitness center with a yoga room, a rooftop deck and a bicycle shop.

“Alta Woodson is a perfect opportunity to bring another transit-oriented community to vibrant downtown Oakland,” said Brian Pianca, development director for Wood Partners, in a prepared statement. “Wood Partners believes strongly in the Oakland market, which began with our Domain development in 2009 and continues today.”
