Warren Gran and Monica Lopez Announce New Firm: Gran Lopez Architects & Planners
Warren Gran, FAIA, and Monica Lopez, AIA, LEED AP, announced the founding of Gran Lopez Architects and Planners. Based in New York City, the partnership will balance the strength of many years of public and non-profit architectural design with project management.
New York—Warren Gran, FAIA, and Monica Lopez, AIA, LEED AP, announced the founding of Gran Lopez Architects and Planners. Based in New York City, the partnership will balance the strength of many years of public and non-profit architectural design with project management.
Gran and Lopez started working together at Gran Associates 12 years ago and have also worked together at Gran Kriegel, designing projects of many kinds in all five New York City boroughs.
Lopez will be the managing parter. For the past 21 years she has managed projects from initial programming and design through construction completion. One of her larger projects was the construction for the School Construction Authority, of PS/1S 395 in Brooklyn, which is a 140,000 square foot, 1,000-seat elementary and middle school serving kids from Pre-K thought 8th grade. Other projects includes a new SRO apartment building for Urban Pathways-Community Housing and the Bronx Lighthouse Charter School additional and renovation.
Gran brings more than 40 years of award-winning design to the new firm. His work has been published by a variety of architectural design publications including the New York Times, Time magazine and books about architecture and design in Japan, Germany and Sweden. Gran completed projects such as the renovation of and addition to PS 14, which won an AIA Design Award from the New York Chapter. Gran has also been awarded the NY State AIA Boston Society of Architects Award for his work on the Lighthouse Charter School in Bronx, N.Y., and the Progressive Architecture Award for Urban Design.
Both Gran and Lopez are registered architects in New York State.
