Virginia Apartment Property Wins First-Ever Award From NAHB
The National Association of Home Builders has awarded Cambria at Cornerstone, a new 420-unit multifamily property in Virginia Beach, its first-ever “Best Lifestyle Programming” award for a multifamily property.

Virginia Beach, Va.—The National Association of Home Builders has awarded Cambria at Cornerstone, a new 420-unit multifamily property in Virginia Beach, its first-ever “Best Lifestyle Programming” award for a multifamily property. The award is a new category in the 2013 NAHB Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards given by the organization.
“Best Lifestyle Programming” recognizes a new rental brand devised by the Breeden Co., the property’s developer, which it calls Enriched Lifestyle Community. The goal of the property’s lifestyle programming is to address the needs and demands of Gen Y residents, though programming is open to all residents, regardless of their demographic.
Cambria’s lifestyle programming is designed to engage every resident in a number of ways. For instance, the Breeden Co. developed outdoor gathering spaces in a resort-like style with activities to take advantage of all of common space within the property. Also, a yearly timeline of a variety of events (family, fitness, sports and health-conscious venues) incorporating top social media platforms was designed to encourage participation by residents and prospective residents.
For Breeden, the property is also the first of its kind. It will not, notes company CEO Ramon Breeden, be the last. A number of the Enriched Lifestyle Community projects are now under development in the Mid-Atlantic States. All together, the Breeden Co. has a portfolio of over 8,500 units.
The NAHB’s Pillars of the Industry Awards program recognizes “the best in multifamily design and honors the industry’s most creative and effective marketing campaigns, as well as its top developers,” according to the organization. A panel of multifamily development and design experts selected winners in 28 categories for excellence in building and marketing.
