University Developments—a partnership between Global City Development, Reichmann International and Podium Developments—unveiled its plan for University Bridge Residences, a student housing condominium project located across the street from Florida International University’s main campus. Construction is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Located at 740 SW 109th Ave., in the Miami submarket of Sweetwater, the 20-story building will feature 492 studio, one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units as well as three- and four-bedroom townhouses. Ranging in size from 317 to 1,634 square feet, the fully furnished units will house washer/dryers and individual bathrooms for each bedroom. The community will include a connection to the pedestrian bridge, providing direct access to campus.

Residents will have access to amenities such as:
- an amenity deck
- resort-style pool with beach entry and pool volleyball

- a sun deck with daybeds

The development, part of Sweetwater’s newly designated University City, will also feature 7,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space available for future retail or restaurant tenants. Arquitectonica designed the project and Landmark Properties will manage the property once completed. Unit prices range from the $190,000’s to $600,000’s.
“University Bridge is the culmination of FIU’s and the City of Sweetwater’s vision for a true college town next to the school’s main campus,” Brian Pearl, principal of Global City Development, told Multi-Housing News. “In order to accelerate the achievement of their vision, the city modernized its zoning code and along with the university applied for and received a grant for an $11 million pedestrian bridge connecting the school to the city. Our project, which sits at the city-end of the bridge, helps bring to life the infrastructure that the university and city have put in place and sets a new bar for student living in Miami with a world-class design by Arquitectonica.”
