U-Haul has unveiled plans for a self storage facility in Buford, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta. Once complete in the spring of 2026, U-Haul Moving & Storage of North Buford will bring the firm’s Georgia portfolio to 77 properties.

The facility is set to comprise more than 800 climate-controlled units featuring security options, as well as truck- and trailer-sharing services. Additionally, the property will include towing equipment and hitch installation, portable storage containers, boxes and moving supplies.

Located at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Cole Road, the site is some 6 miles west of Interstate 985, as well as roughly 40 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. Yardi Matrix data shows six other storage facilities within a 3-mile radius, providing 11.1 rentable square feet per capita.

Metro Atlanta’s self storage supply pipeline had more than 2 million square feet of rentable under-construction space as of May, according to the same data provider. The figure represents 4 percent of the metro’s total inventory.

In Buford alone, more than 77,000 square feet of rentable storage space were underway during the same period, the same research shows. The development pipeline makes up 9.2 percent of the city’s total supply.
