TruAmerica Multifamily has been expanding its employee base in an effort to grow its national platform. The company promoted Matthew Ferrari to senior managing director and hired former Bascom Vice President Christopher MacLeod as director of acquisitions on the West Coast. Several other recent appointments include Christopher Wei as the new director of portfolio management, Eryn Mack as director of human resources, Greg Zartarian as acquisitions manager under Ferrari’s leadership and Jeffrey Chan as director of asset management.

Ferrari joined the company’s Arlington, Va. office in 2016 and, over the course of two years, he built a solid portfolio on the East Coast, adding new assets in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast areas. The properties represented nearly 50 percent of the firm’s new acquisitions since mid-2016. In his new role, Ferrari will oversee acquisitions nationwide while continuing to serve as general manager of the firm’s East Coast operations. Prior to joining TruAmerica, he worked for AvalonBay Communities Inc. and Archstone.

A WestPoint graduate, MacLeod will lead the entire acquisitions process for transactions closed in the Pacific Northwest, Arizona and Utah. He will work alongside Zach Rivas, the director of acquisitions for California, Colorado and Nevada in the company’s Newport Beach office.

TruAmerica increased its employee base from nine to 43 people since 2013, as it closed a number of significant transactions on the West Coast. The new hires will be involved in managing the company’s growing residential portfolio which encompasses $7.5 billion worth of properties.
