Trammell Crow Breaks Ground on Bay State Project

The latest in the company’s Alexan line will add 220 units to a sizeable Massachusetts portfolio.

Trammell Crow Residential has commenced construction on its latest Alexan apartment community, a 220-unit property in Worcester, Mass.

The community, which is situated by Lake Quinsigamond is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025. This project follows Trammell’s announcement of its Alexan Waltham, Alexan Peabody and Alexan Chelmsford, and brings the firm’s number of apartment units under development in the northeast close to 2,000.

Alexan Worcester’s notable features include studio and one-, two- and three-bedroom units, all of which will are equipped with stainless steel appliances, wood-style plant flooring, in-unit washers and dryers and spacious walk-in closets across two five-story buildings. Both buildings offer elevator access.

Amenities at the property include a resort-style pool adjacent to an outdoor lounge and patio, a resident clubhouse complete with a gourmet kitchen and gaming room, a fitness center with cardio and strength equipment and a dog park with a pet wash station.

Low supply market

The property is located near a number of employers in the health and education sectors, including UMass Memorial Medical Center, MetroWest Boston, Saint Vincent Hospital, Hanover Insurance Group, Holy Cross University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Alexan Worcester will feature two, five-story, elevator-serviced buildings.

Worcester ranks 17th out of 121 area submarkets in rent growth with little new supply coming, placing 113th in completions, according to data Yardi Matrix.
