Chicago—The Grant, the redesigned, repositioned Chicago condominium from Related Midwest, recently celebrated its grand opening.

Rising 54 stories above the southwest corner of Grant Park, one of Chicago’s top lakefront playgrounds, The Grant is one of a trio of previously-stalled South Loop towers taken over by Related Midwest last year. The three were rechristened a few months ago as the South Loop Luxury by Related collection.

“Luck certainly plays a role in timing, and we had the timing just right,” Related Midwest President Curt Bailey tells MHN. “All the metrics seemed appealing: a dwindling supply of residences, great population growth and excellent job growth, too. We’ve managed to sell 200 of the 500 total units of The Grant in the first six months. We did a good job repositioning the building, and there‘s a lot of demand here in the South Loop.”

Terrific design “bones,” a tantalizing view of the skyline, park and lake and an address right on a legendary Windy City public space made the building a winner even before its repositioning, Bailey says.

“We had a truly unique opportunity to infuse the building with our own brand of amenities, finishes and service,” he adds. “From the fine art we selected for the common areas to the beautiful materials in each residence, we’ve created the first-class residential experience Related is known for.”

Enlisting Simeone Deary Design Group to handle the makeover, Related Midwest entirely redesigned the building’s common areas and amenity spaces. The company also created a half dozen model residences spotlighting the array of high-end interior finishes offered in Related’s Signature residences.

Among the trademark additions was the incorporation of a children’s playroom Bailey reports is unparalleled in downtown Chicago residential structures.

“Playrooms have been an incredibly popular building amenity for Related in New York, and we’re excited to introduce the concept here,” he says. “Anyone from families who opt to continue living downtown to grandparents who keep a pied-a-terre in the building will love this feature.”

The Grant also offers a fully-equipped fitness center with indoor pool, hot tub and his-and-hers locker rooms, screening room and lounge with projection screen, a professionally-equipped bike maintenance and storage room and a pet grooming area and outdoor dog park. A sprawling landscaped sundeck with grilling area is situated near an entertainment suite and catering kitchen residents can reserve. As well, residents of The Grant can access a Related Personal Assistant to take up tasks from move-in coordination to provision of concierge-style services.

The price points, square footage and floor plan design make The Grant a great choice for buyers seeking the ultimate luxury lifestyle in downtown Chicago, Bailey says. “Whether it’s a family looking to make this their primary urban residence or a retiree who wants to enjoy the best the city has to offer, The Grant has the home to suit their needs,” he says.
