Brandon, Fla.—Crescent Crosstown, a 344-unit apartment community in Brandon, Fla., has opened its doors. The property is located near the Selmon/Crosstown Expressway in Brandon, a Census-designated place in Hillsborough County, southeast of Tampa.

Crescent Communities is the developer. When the Charlotte, N.C.-based company began developing the property a year ago, it pinpointed 150-year-old massive live oaks on the property, which it characterizes as a critical design element, and preserved them.

The property is divided into The Resort, which includes a 7,000 square-foot clubhouse, pool deck and a central lawn, and the Retreat, with emphasizes “privacy and seclusion” among the oaks, according to Crescent Communities. The first four buildings and amenities in The Resort are open, including apartments and a LEED-designed clubhouse, which includes a media room with 70-inch plasma TV, countertop iPads, catering kitchen, billiards bar, library and Starbucks coffee kiosk.

When complete later this year, The Retreat will add more apartment units. It will also feature two additional “chill & grill” areas, two more dog parks, scattered hammocks and a walking trail that meanders beneath the oaks.

U.S. Bank financed the development, with equity investment by CNL Growth Properties and Crescent Communities. Also involved in the development were Crescent Multifamily Construction, the Preston Partnership (as architect and interior designer), King Engineering (civil engineer) and Land Resource Design Group (landscape architect). The property will be managed by Riverstone Residential Group.
