Tailwind Acquires Texas Student Housing
The community came online in 2008.

Tailwind Group has acquired Connection at Huntsville, a 288-unit, 792-bed student housing community in Huntsville, Texas. This marks the firm’s third acquisition of the year.
Berkadia Senior Managing Director Brandon Buell and his team brokered the deal. The buyer took out a $19.5 million loan from Old National Bank that matures in 2030, according to Walker County public records.
Arizona State University System previously owned the asset serving Sam Houston State University, according to Yardi Matrix information. The firm acquired it in 2022 from Pierce Education Properties.

Tailwind plans to implement a capital improvement plan that includes a complete renovation and redesign of the clubhouse and leasing office, roofs replacement and unit improvements. The community will also be rebranded as The Quarters Huntsville.
Located at 2537 Pine Shadows Drive, the property is 1 mile from the Sam Houston State University at Huntsville campus and 2 miles from Elliott T. Bowers Stadium. Downtown Houston is some 72 miles southeast.
Completed in 2008, the community encompasses 13 three-story buildings spread across almost 27 acres. The unit mix consists of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom floorplans ranging between 674 and 1,572 square feet. The fully furnished units also have private balconies or patios and walk-in closets.
Common-area amenities include a fitness center, clubhouse, business center and a spa, as well as a dog park, two volleyball courts and picnic areas. The garden-style property also has a media room, four swimming pools, study rooms and more than 760 parking spaces.
