Sunnyvale, Calif.—SummerHill Apartment Communities, a division of SummerHill Housing Group announced the completion of 481 on Mathilda in downtown Sunnyvale. The 105-unit luxury residential community offers studios, one- and two-bedroom floorplans featuring full-size washers and dryers, gourmet kitchens, contemporary wood-finish flooring, storage, stone countertops, modern cabinetry, private balconies or patios and private-entry stoops.

“The location of this new community is appealing on many levels. It is within walking distance of major employers such as LinkedIn, Apple and Nokia. It is also within walking distance of CalTrain that connects the site to numerous other employment centers up and down the peninsula,” Katia Kamangar, executive vice president & managing director of SummerHill Homes/SummerHill Apartment Communities, told Multi-Housing News. “It is across from Town Center and Murphy Avenue with lots of retail, services and restaurants. For these reasons, the location is ideal for renters. The common renter demographic at 481 on Mathilda is a tech employee that works hard and plays hard and this community caters to all of their needs.”

Residents will have access to amenities such as on-site parking, lush landscaping, a central courtyard with barbeques, an outdoor kitchen and expansive green space for recreation, an outdoor living room featuring a fireplace and reflecting fountain, a conference room, Wi-Fi available throughout, a pet salon, resident lounge and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

“SummerHill worked diligently to implement the City’s vision for this location by following the Sunnyvale Downtown Specific Plan that the City had previously adopted. While the plan called for high-density housing in this location near transit, it also called for housing that would offer a thoughtful transition to the existing single-family neighborhood on the backside of the property,” Kamangar told Multi-Housing News. “Using the Specific Plan as guidance, SummerHill designed a unique high-density apartment building that is four stories tall along Mathilda Avenue and two stories along Charles Avenue on the back side, across from the single-family homes.”

SummerHill recently celebrated the completion of several Silicon Valley luxury residential rental communities totaling 634 apartment homes including Domus on the Boulevard in the City of Mountain View, The Lane on the Boulevard in Redwood City and Brio in Walnut Creek. In addition to the newly completed 481 on Mathilda apartment community, SummerHill Apartment Communities is slated to complete Villas on the Boulevard, a 186-unit apartment community in Santa Clara, in early 2017.
