Hyattsville, Md.—Work has started on an $8 million renovation of the Overlook Apartments in Hyattsville, Md. The project will encompass major new features for the property, including refurbished unit interiors, renovation of common areas and the leasing center, new landscaping and signage, plus new mechanical systems.

The property, originally built in 1962, includes 187 units. Bethesda, Md.-based ROSS Development & Investment, which has owned and managed the property with affiliate ROSS Management Services for the past 30 years, is working on repositioning the asset, though it will still offer affordable units.

After renovation, Overlook Apartments will continue to feature affordable housing based on certain income guidelines, and all utilities included in the monthly, according to the owner. Also, the property will provide “services tailored to meet the specific needs of our residents,” according to ROSS Management Service regional property manager Cindy Pearre.

Hyattsville is part of suburban Washington, D.C., located inside the Capital Beltway. It has access to the city at two metro stations on the system’s Green Line, and has experienced a number of redevelopment projects in recent years, including in the Arts District Hyattsville and Prince George’s Plaza.

The Overlook Apartments renovation is being overseen by ROSS Renovation & Construction, another affiliate of ROSS Development. The project is slated for completion in early 2014.
