Danang, Vietnam—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is expanding its presence in Vietnam with the signing of the Sheraton Danang Resort, a new beachfront property located in Danang, the country’s third largest city.
Upon completion in early 2018, the upcoming resort will feature 250 guestrooms and approximately 11,500 square feet (1,066 square meters) of meeting and function space divided between two ballrooms and five meeting rooms. The hotel will also feature the Shine Spa for Sheraton, a swimming pool, the state-of-the-art Sheraton Fitness center, as well as one of the brand’s signature restaurants alongside one other dining venue.
The property is located about three miles from Danang International Airport, the third busiest airport in Vietnam. Furthermore, Danang is considered a gateway to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Imperial City of Hue, the Old Town of Hoi An and the My So’n ruins.
Starwood’s recent agreement with Oriental Sea Villas & Hotel Company Ltd. follows the signing of Four Points by Sheraton Danang in late 2014. The property is scheduled to open in July 2017.
“We are excited to introduce the Sheraton brand in Danang, considered one of Vietnam’s most popular vacation spots and the gateway to Vietnam’s central region,” Lothar Pehl, senior VP, Operations and Global Initiatives for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific, said.
Starwood’s portfolio in Vietnam also comprises four operating properties, including Sheraton Hanoi Hotel, Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers, Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel & Spa (pictured) and the recently opened Le Meridien Saigon.
“We are very pleased to welcome a worldwide leader in the hotel and resort industry to the area, further solidifying Danang’s dominance as one of Vietnam’s premier destinations for both business and leisure travelers,” added Le Minh Phuc, representative of the Oriental Sea Villas & Hotel Company.
