Standard Communities has completed an extensive improvement program at Villa de Guadalupe Apartments, a 101-unit senior housing community in San Jose. Following the renovations, the property will continue to be affordable to low-income seniors in the Bay Area.

Located at 2151 Plaza De Guadalupe, the asset is within a 10-minute drive of downtown San Jose and close to Interstate 680. According to Yardi Matrix data, Villa de Guadalupe encompasses one-bedroom units totaling 600 square feet. Amenities include a clubhouse, three laundry facilities and 50 parking spaces. During the refurbishing process, residents were not displaced. Improvements involved upgrading unit interiors, modernizing building systems and revamping common and amenity spaces.

“The shortage of affordable housing options throughout the Bay Area has been extensively documented, and preservation efforts like what we accomplished at Villa de Guadalupe Apartments are a key part of any plan to ease the ongoing housing crisis,” said Jeffrey Jaeger, co-founder of Standard Cos., in prepared remarks.

In January, a partnership of Standard Communities and the National Foundation for Affordable Housing Solutions has purchased the 294-unit Park Shirlington in Arlington, Va., in order to preserve the community’s affordability.
