By Anuradha Kher, Online News EditorBooklyn, N.Y.–SSJ Development LLC recently launched its new company, SSJ Construction LLC, to be led by Stephen S. Jemal. The new company is expected to expedite construction of all SSJ Development’s projects, maintain quality controls with the objective to minimize costs and adhere to project deadlines and guidelines.SSJ is a developer focused on waterfront development and is currently developing a multifamily project (pictured) at Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn. Construction is expected to be complete in one year. An additional dozen waterfront mixed-use projects, all under the Riviera brand, are expected to break ground this summer.SSJ Construction has been created to realize SSJ Development’s mission to revitalize neglected waterfronts that have become blighted in established, vibrant communities.“SSJ Development has gained critical mass over the course of the last 11 to 12 years and we’re now able to capitalize on economies of scale,” Jemal, founder and CEO of SSJ Development, tells MHN. “This will speed up how long it takes to build and we’ll be able to build with better materials and spend less money, stay on budget and pass the value onto the buyer.”Adding construction capabilities to a wholly centralized operation will allow for strict quality, fiduciary and schedule controls and will give SSJ Development a competitive edge in the market, according to Jemal.SSJ Construction will benefit from Jemal’s experience of building more of than six million square feet of retail shopping centers, office space and distribution centers.SSJ Construction is a fully licensed general contractor by New York State and the New York City Department of Buildings.
