Solow Building Co. has launched the sales at 685 First Ave. in Midtown East, the company’s first luxury condominium project. The 43-story tower comprises 148 apartments, with prices beginning at $1.5 million.
The property offers a sleek design with layered black glass rising 460 feet. The façade creates a balance between dark and light, with a bold exterior highlighted by its bright interior residences. The western façade includes a second glass curtain wall that creates partially enclosed balconies. The tower was designed by Richard Meier & Partners Architects, who also recently designed One Waterline Square, one of three condominium buildings located on Manhattan’s waterfront.
“685 First Ave. signifies Solow Building Co.’s first condominium development, which marks a major milestone for the firm,” Sheldon Solow, founder & CEO of The Solow Building Co., told Multi-Housing News. “The building’s striking black glass facade and intricate detail illustrate the company’s commitment to meticulous design and detail, and we look forward to watching this project continue to progress towards completion.”
The entrance to 685 First Ave. offers a double-height lobby, featuring travertine clad walls and floors, as well as a three-paneled Joan Miró piece from Solow’s personal art collection. Residents can access a private underground parking garage through a port-cochere and underground motor court via a private driveway on the west side of the building. The parking offers direct access to the apartments.
Interiors are offered in one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom floorplans, starting at the 28th floor. Each apartments combines pale gray, white and earth tones with wood, stone and glass. Features include floor-to-ceiling windows, Italian white Gaggenau appliances, nine- to 20-foot ceilings, white oak floors, smart home capabilities, terraces, Calacatta Lincoln marble countertops, a custom heating system and Dombracht fixtures.
