Originally designed by Chicago-based Weary and Alford, the development’s lobby, which is almost all original, is inspired by the Art Deco period and is reminiscent of 1930s Milwaukee. The rooftop’s steel tower is now illuminated at night by LEDs.In 2004, City Real Estate Development bought the property and began converting the building into condos. The development, which was the tallest skyscraper built in Milwaukee during the 1920s, offers mostly one- and two-bedroom units, in addition to two three-bedroom, build-out penthouses. Prices range from $150,000 to $1,005,000 for a 3,948-sq.-ft. penthouse.Residences offer stainless steel appliances, custom granite countertops, hardwood floors, granite bath floors, custom maple and cherry cabinetry and balconies. Additional amenities include underground heated parking and a sixth-floor green roof terrace with a courtyard, grilling area and dog walks. The second floor of the development offers a fitness center, private party room, guest suites, office spaces and storage lockers, and the ground level has space for a restaurant. The property, which is currently 81 percent sold, is in close proximity to Marquette University, Bradley Center and the Grand Avenue Mall.
