Ryan Cos. Opens Washington Senior Housing
The new property is part of Tehaleh by Newland, a master-planned community.
A new senior housing community built by a partnership including Ryan Cos., Wesley Homes and Presbyterian Homes & Services has opened in Bonney Lake, Wash. Dubbed Wesley at Tehaleh, the 228-unit property is part of Tehaleh by Newland, a 4,700-acre master-planned community.
In July 2019, the joint venture acquired more than 16 acres of vacant land for the development, for $5 million, Pierce County data shows. That same month, the developers also secured a $98.7 million construction loan financed by U.S. Bank.

Designed by Cuningham Group Architecture, the property has a Pacific Northwest modern style achieved using warm, natural materials, abundant daylight and emphasis on connections with the outdoors. The 405,992-square-foot community, located at 17702 Cascadia Blvd. E., has two buildings: Lodge and Brownstone.
The Lodge features 136 independent living, 42 catered living and 18 memory care units, while The Brownstone offers 32 condo-style independent living apartments. The property provides one- and two-bedroom units with floorplans ranging from 780 to 1,770 square feet.
Amenity-rich offering
Wesley at Tehaleh features a bistro and various dining spots, a chapel, a wellness center, an exercise studio, a beauty salon, a movie theatre, a library, two craft rooms along with two club rooms. The community also has multiple outdoor amenities, such as a pond with a bridge across it, multiple tree-lined trails, a pickleball court, a pet wash, gardens as well as patios and fire pits.
Wesley at Tehaleh is roughly 5 miles from the Elhi Hill Road retail corridor, some 10 miles from High Cedars Golf Club and 22 miles southeast of downtown Tacoma.
Recently, Ryan Cos. started construction on its fourth senior housing project in Florida, Grand Living at Wellen Park. Located in Venice, the 192-unit development is scheduled for completion in early 2023.
