RKW Residential Grows North Carolina Management Portfolio
The firm was tapped by Levine Properties and Ascent Real Estate Capital to handle five communities.
RKW Residential is expanding its multifamily management portfolio in its home base, taking over management and leasing at three apartment communities and two development assignments in North Carolina.
The new assignments from Levine Properties and Ascent Real Estate Capital add nearly 850 units to RKW’s rapidly expanding portfolio.
Levine Properties selected RKW for four of the new assignments. RKW is overseeing management and leasing for Levine at:
- Crest on Providence, a 473-unit community with one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom townhome-style apartments in South Charlotte’s Landsdowne neighborhood;
- Crest Gateway, a boutique community with 40 units in Uptown Charlotte;
- The Julien, a 105-unit building near the Plaza Midwood and Uptown Charlotte neighborhoods.
RKW has also been tapped by Levine to provide pre-development consulting services for The Calvert, the firm’s new 96-unit community being built in Charlotte’s Wesley Heights neighborhood. The agreement calls for RKW to oversee leasing and management when the project is completed.
Ascent Real Estate Capital has awarded RKW a development assignment for its Centro Square project. Ascent is developing Centro Square, a 132-unit apartment building with 7,300 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, in a joint venture with Centro Cityworks.
This is RKW’s second partnership with Ascent. RKW led the successful lease-up of the venture’s Centro Railyard, which was Charlotte’s first micro-unit project. Centro Square is part of The Square, a mixed-use development that will bring 150,000 square feet of Class A office space to Charlotte’s South End neighborhood.
Growing Portfolio
Marcie Williams, RKW president, said in a prepared statement the company has been able to consistently add prime communities and developments in the Carolinas to its portfolio. She credited the company’s talented and dedicated team. In addition to the new assignments, RKW recently launched leasing at Marlowe Place, a 225-unit community in Charlotte, and Mill One, a 90-unit property in Mooresville, N.C.
The third-party multifamily property management firm also has regional offices in Atlanta; Miami; Orlando, Fla.; and Raleigh, N.C. The company was recognized by Multi-Housing News as the nation’s second-fastest growing multifamily management company for 2020 and appeared on MHN’s Top Property Managers list in 2020 for the second consecutive year.
In June, RKW assumed leasing and management at The Mill at Westside in Atlanta and Artesia Big Creek in Alpharetta, Ga., two properties totaling 551 units owned by Starlight U.S. Multi-Family.
Dermot Co. retained RKW in March to manage its inaugural multifamily acquisition in Florida—Seabourn Cove, an upscale, 308-unit property in Boynton Beach, Fla. Earlier in the year, RKW expanded its Florida footprint with two management assignments totaling 471 units at Treasures on the Bay in Miami, and Central Gardens Grand Apartments in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
