Two key design takeaways from MHN’s 2014 Excellence Awards judging were “wood is good” and that muted color palettes with texture can serve to make a space more interesting. A brand collaboration between Designtex and 3M Architectural Markets has yielded a architectural finish that is perfect for creating a unique look in your next ground-up or rehab project.
3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes utilize 3M technology to create a dynamic material that conforms to flat or curved surfaces. The collection, which includes over 500 patterns, is billed as a versatile solution for doors, drawers, future and back-lit applications, though its use is really limited by your creativity.
Patterns range from warm wood grains, to high-impact colors, leathers, modern metallic, stone, natural weaves and soft pebbles. The authentic replication of rare and exotic woods are of particular note, given the monetary and ecological costs associated with using the real thing. DI-NOC™ is also available in the E-Series, which is composed of polyolefin, an environmentally preferable alternative to vinyl. That line has more than 70 designs.
One of the major benefits for the DI-NOC™ collection is that surfaces can be refinished quickly and on site. As evidenced by the before and after shots below, the material can extend the useful life of interior architecture design elements like walls, columns, furniture and furnishings.
