Tuxedo, N.Y.—Related Companies has taken wraps off the Tri-State Region’s newest commutable community, Tuxedo Farms in Tuxedo, N.Y. The community will offer home builders almost 1,200 residential opportunities spread across several neighborhoods near open space and picture-postcard views.
The community’s commuting convenience, historic appeal and natural beauty are all expected to make Tuxedo Farms a popular choice for builders and future residents. Located only 35 miles from New York City, and just an hour from Manhattan’s Penn Station, the new community will be near 129-year-old village Tuxedo Park, N.Y., which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In addition, Tuxedo Farms will be close to Tuxedo’s three crystal-clear lakes and its 18-hole golf course at the Tuxedo Club. Hunting, hiking, swimming, skiing and the Harriman State Park trailhead all beckon to those who love the outdoors.
The anchor of Tuxedo Farms will be a new $12 million, 37,000-square-foot Related-funded YMCA, which is expected to break ground in the second quarter of next year. The company will develop and donate the recreational facility to the local chapter of YMCA. Related will also oversee the development of the infrastructure, the landscaping and retail amenities.
Home builders will have the chance to bulk purchase fully-improved home lots. To include cottages, town homes, manor and estate homes, the residences are expected to bear price tags of from $450,000 to more than $1.5 million. One-, two- and three-bedroom rental apartments will also be a part of Tuxedo Farms.
Almost two-thirds of the site’s acreage—800 of 1,250 acres—will be set aside for open space and a variety of retail uses, including a grocery market. Newly created parks and playgrounds will also be included in Tuxedo Farms.
“Tuxedo Farms has all the ingredients of a great community,” said Related Companies’ chairman and founder Stephen Ross, ticking off such benefits as proximity to work, state-of-the-art amenities and a natural setting.
“It’s located in a town that is poised for revitalization at the trailhead of the Hudson Valley. We are thrilled to share this exciting and rare opportunity with home builders, from whom we have already received tremendous interest.”
Added Andrew Dance, senior vice president at Related Companies and project lead for Tuxedo Farms, “At Tuxedo Farms, we are developing on our vision for a new type of master planned community that provides a much-needed alternative to the typical neighborhood subdivisions in the New York area, specifically meeting the demands of today’s families.”
“Related is also bringing new amenities, retail options and important infrastructure to the area, where we are partnering with the town and with local businesses to further enhance what is already an exceptional community.”
