Related Breaks Ground on SF Property
The 299-unit project, known as 1601 Mariposa, will include 60 affordable apartments and more than 9,400 square feet of street-level retail.
Related Cos. has broken ground on 1601 Mariposa, a 299-unit multifamily project in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood. The property will welcome its first residents in late 2019, according to Yardi Matrix data. Site preparation work started in 2016 with the demolition of an industrial building.
Located at the corner of Mariposa and Carolina streets, the development site is positioned next to Live Oak School and across from the 5.5-acre Jackson Playground park. The community’s two, three-story buildings will rise within half a mile of both interstates 80 and 280.
The development’s plans calls for a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with 60 of the units classified as affordable. The buildings will also contain 4,100 square feet intended for a café or restaurant, 1,400 square feet of general retail space and 3,900 square feet of production, distribution and repair (PDR) space. Amenities will include 249 subterranean parking spaces, extensive bicycle parking and 28,000 square feet of public open space.
Nibbi Brothers is acting as the project’s general contractor. David Baker Architects designed the community to meet LEED Silver standards, with Fletcher Studio providing landscape architecture services.
Two blocks north, Wood Partners broke ground on its 172-unit Alta Potrero Hill project in January.
