By Erika Schnitzer, Associate EditorLas Vegas–RealPage Inc., a Carrollton, Texas-based provider of on-demand services to the multi-housing industry, has selected BitBand, a Netanya, Israel-based provider of video content delivery solutions for broadband Internet Protocol (IP) networks, as its affiliate vendor for implementing on-demand IPTV (IP television) services and offering triple play options to apartments.“This recent project with RealPage stands in line with the shift BitBand sees in the market, toward looking at the subscribers and the content as the service provider’s major assets,” says Erin Leibovici, CEO of Bitband.  “With this in mind, a great emphasis is placed on two aspects when deploying content/IPTV delivery services: viewers’ quality of experience and service scalability.” RealPage provides its services, which include Starfire, the company’s entertainment and communication service that provides IPTV, broadband and telephony to residents, to over 20,000 apartment communities nationwide. BitBand’s Maestro Content Distribution and Management suite delivers content across the network. The company’s Auto-CDNtechnology and On-Line-Storage solution allows the service provider to reduce costs of central storage systems, providing high-performance streaming capability while enabling disaster recovery and non-interrupted entertainment services to residents. Additionally, the agreement with RealPage uses Bitband’s Vision VOD appliance servers and CMT, Bitband’s content management system, for efficient content delivery across the network.
