Presbyterian Living Expands Chicago Senior Community

The development is slated for completion by fall 2027.

Presbyterian Living has broken ground on a 70-unit expansion at The Moorings of Arlington Heights, a senior housing community in Arlington Heights, Ill. The development is slated for completion by fall 2027.

Project partners include Skender as general contractor and Plante Moran as business and financial advisor. Perkins Eastman was in charge of architecture and design.

Ziegler secured $162.9 million in tax-exempt bonds for this development through the Illinois Finance Authority. Part of the proceeds will refinance an outstanding 2016 loan.

A senior housing community near Chicago

The Moorings of Arlington Heights occupies 45 acres at 811 E. Central Road. The senior community currently features 264 independent living units, 73 assisted living suites, 20 memory care apartments and 39 intermediate and skilled memory care units, as well as a skilled nursing wing.

The underway development will add another 70 senior independent living units across a five-story building. The unit mix is to feature one- and two-bedroom-plus-den floorplans ranging from 1,050 to 1,900 square feet.

Current common-area amenities comprise a library, a fitness center, a salon, a wellness clinic, flower beds and vegetable gardens, among others. New additions will include a new social and wellness space, walking paths, extended outdoor amenity areas and designated parking below ground level.

The Moorings of Arlington Heights is close to several parks and less than 2 miles from Endeavor Health Northwest Community Hospital. Downtown Chicago is less than 23 miles southeast.
