Preiss Enters Charleston Market
The Raleigh-based company will manage 61 Vandy, a 101-bedroom student housing development currently in the final stages of conversion.
Charleston, S.C.—The Preiss Co., a student housing owner and operator, has been retained to manage 61 Vandy, a 101-bedroom community serving the College of Charleston. The property will soon be fully converted from conventional apartments to student-focused housing.
Located at 61 Vanderhorst St., in the heart of downtown Charleston, the asset is two blocks from the College of Charleston, within walking distance of the Medical University of South Carolina and a short drive from The Citadel. The five-story property consists of 33 units that offer a mix of studio, two-, three- and four-bedroom floor plans. All apartments have hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and a wall-mounted flat screen television in the living area. The amenity package includes a self-serve coffee bar and on-site parking.
“The property is completing a total makeover/conversion to a student housing-focused facility and will be one of only five purpose-built projects serving the Charleston college community. We have in-depth operating experience in the region and already are actively leasing for the 2017 school year,” said Donna Preiss, founder & CEO of The Preiss Co.
The Preiss Co. added four new management contracts in the past three months. 61 Vandy is the company’s fourth property management assignment added to its portfolio this year.
Recently, the student housing owner-operator acquired GrandMarc at University Village, close to the University of California’s Riverside campus, and Gateway at Huntsville, near the Sam Houston State University.
