Parcel Pending Launches Refrigerated, Outdoor Smart Lockers
- Jun 26, 2017
Parcel Pending added refrigerated and outdoor lockers to its suite of digital smart lockers. The temperature-controlled storage spaces are cooled to 35-44 degrees Fahrenheit, maintaining food and beverage shipments fresh for a longer period of time.
“Our new refrigerated lockers are the result of listening to our customers and seeing the need to store temperature-sensitive goods. These revolutionary new lockers allow property managers to focus on the resident, and not spoiled food and melting packages,” Lori Torres, CEO & founder of Parcel Pending, said in prepared remarks.
Modern and secure access system
The outdoor lockers were created for communities that don’t have adequate indoor package storage space or a communal area with 24/7 resident access. The storage units are made to withstand the environmental elements and protect the products from damage.
Both the refrigerated and the outdoor storage lockers use a smart security system, allowing residents to open them using a unique PIN code they receive via text message once a parcel is stored inside.
Demand for these refrigerated lockers is driven by growing online grocery sales, estimated to reach $9.4 billion year, according to research made by IBISWorld and by the $1.5 billion meal-kit subscription industry, as showed by a Packaged Facts report.
The lockers were unveiled at the National Apartment Association Education Conference and Expo this month.
