JV Breaks Ground on $72M Kansas City Mixed-Use Development

Kansas City, Mo.—Flaherty & Collins Properties and Port KC announced the groundbreaking of Union | Berkley Riverfront Park. Located at 1298 E. Riverfront Road, the $72 million mixed-use development will feature 410 luxury apartments, 12,400 square feet of retail space and a 400-space parking garage for resident and retail customer use.
“The economic impact of our development will be tremendous,” David Flaherty, CEO of Flaherty & Collins Properties told Multi-Housing News. “We will bring over 600 people to downtown Kansas City riverfront living and we anticipate that over 450 people will be new to the metropolitan area, with an average income of $100,000. These new residences will help drive the demand for further development on the riverfront as well as to support all of the local business in downtown Kansas City.”
Apartments will include LED lighting, premium carpeting in the bedrooms, Energy Star rated washers and dryers, Nest thermostats, decorative patios and balconies, luxury wood-style flooring in the kitchens, entry ways and living areas, flat slab cabinets with custom hardware and quartz countertops in the kitchens, oversized energy efficient windows and frameless shower doors.

Residents will have access to amenities such as a first floor coffee shop and bar, a state-of-the-art 1,600-square-foot Fitness Center with yoga studio, 35,000 total square feet of outdoor courtyard space with an outdoor living room featuring fire pits, grills and outdoor furniture, Wi-Fi throughout, a Bike Shop with storage and a 1,600-square-foot private Bark Park with a Dog Park Express Course that includes a water and waste station.
Construction will take place over the next 18 months with resident move-ins expected for mid-2018.
