Alexandria, Va.—Insight Property Group’s new development, The Shelby, a mid-rise luxury community comprised of 240 residences in Alexandria, Va., has opened for leasing.

“The Shelby is the result of a bold vision and a collective commitment to craft a community that engages with, celebrates and enhances its surrounding neighborhood in a meaningful way,” Rebecca Snyder, a partner at Insight Property Group, tells MHN. “One way that we did this was to commission over 40 local artists to create more than 100 pieces of original art specifically for The Shelby. These pieces range from handcrafted door handles on the front entrance to a custom set of monkey bars in our Crossfit Box, to paintings hanging on the wall.”

Located at 6200 North Kings Highway, The Shelby offers 240 residences ranging from junior one-bedrooms to two-bedrooms with a den. Each unit features gourmet chef-inspired kitchens, imported white rose granite countertops, Whirlpool stainless steel dishwashers, Energy Saver appliances and wood plank flooring.

The Shelby also offers residents more than 10,000 square feet of amenity space, including a lobby featuring a large communal table, art installations, a fireplace and complimentary Wi-Fi; a kitchen with 70” HDTV’s; a gaming room with billiards; a study with iMac computers; a resort-style swimming pool complete with an outdoor movie theater and pavilion; and a 24-hour state-of-the-art gym.

Additional services offered include a dog park, an on-site dog grooming station, bike storage and fix-it station, private parking, an electric car charging station and The Shelby’s very own public bus stop.

The community is located in close proximity to Old Town Alexandria, National Harbor, Fort Belvoir and D.C., and less than a half-mile to the Huntington Metro.

According to Snyder, The Shelby was developed in response to the increasing need for transit-oriented apartment homes that are close to major employers.

“The neighborhood that The Shelby is located within is extremely vibrant. Not only is it extremely well located, but it is filled with engaged residents who are passionate about their neighborhood and are actively working to enhance it,” she says. “For the past four years, Insight Property Group worked hand-in-hand with neighbors and public officials to craft a community that respected the existing neighborhood and set a new bar of excellence for future development. The Shelby is the result of a true team effort and we are collectively very proud of what we have achieved.”

Bozzuto Management Company is handling the leasing for the property.
