PMG Unveils Brooklyn Mixed-Use Development
The project included an 80-block rezoning effort.

Society Brooklyn, a new 21-story, 517-unit mixed-use multifamily community from national developer Property Markets Group, has received its official opening in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The project was first announced in 2023, as a joint venture between PMG and The Carlyle Group. Following its securing of $520 million in construction financing in June of that year, the developers topped out on the property in 2023.
As part of the development, PMG aggregated 14 acres and led an 80-block rezoning of land in Gowanus, an area of Brooklyn long been reserved for industrial uses.

The property features two towers totaling more than 594,000 square feet. Some 25 percent of the multifamily units are earmarked as affordable housing. The property also has 57,000 square feet of retail space. Some 21,000 square feet of that retail space is allocated to local makers and creatives in what is termed the “Gowanus Mix.”
Features, finishes, neighbors
Apartment homes at Society Brooklyn feature either white oak or black oak custom kitchen cabinetry, Caesarstone countertops, built-out bedroom closets, woodgrain plank flooring, custom backlit spa vanities, in-unit washer-dryers, smart thermostats and door locks, solar and blackout shades and in select units, private outdoor space.
Society Brooklyn’s common-area amenities include a waterfront esplanade, 24-7 attended lobby, fitness studio and gym, yoga and fitness lawn, Jumbotron theater, resident lounge, coworking hub, children’s playroom, garden deck and herb garden, bike room, smart package room, ground-floor retail plaza and on-site parking.
The community stands at the center of several in-demand Brooklyn neighborhoods, including Carrol Gardens, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill and Park Slope. Society Brooklyn is located within steps of restaurants, cafes, bakeries, grocery markets, culture and entertainment. The Union Street subway is only three blocks east, the Carroll Street subway about the same distance west.
Earlier this month, Goose Property Management secured a $166 million construction loan from SCALE Lending to develop a four-building mixed-use project at 280 Bergen St., in the nearby Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn.
