By Myles McBride, ReporterChicago–Plans for Solstice on the Park, a new 147-unit condominium project in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, have been unveiled by Englewood, N.J.-based developer, Antheus Capital.The 28-story tower, located at 5532 S. Cornell Ave., will be the first new condo development to come up in 30 years in this Windy City neighborhood.Architect Jeanne Gang, principal founder of Studio/Gang/Architects, is responsible for the design of the building that will serve several practical purposes to its residents. “The design for Solstice on the Park grew out of an organic process of research, exploration, and discovery,” says Gang, “Our design is based on the environmental criteria of the site, and the result is a structure that is carved to respond to the sun.”The project is expected to earn the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification.Solstice features two- and three-bedroom units with options of a den, two to four baths and private terraces or balconies. Condos range from 1,550 to 4,200 sq. ft. and are priced from $450,000 to $2.55 million.Amenities at the building will include a fitness facility, pool and sun deck, roof garden and library. Other amenities include garage parking, 9-ft. ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows that will have views of Lake Michigan from the northeast corner.
