Placemakr Opens Flexible Living Community in DC
Located in the NoMa neighborhood, the property offers residents a variety of lease options.
Placemakr has added another community designed according to its flexible living model to the Washington, D.C., area. The company, along with MMg Development, has opened Placemakr NoMa, which is now available for short-term and extended-stay bookings. As the developer, MMg Development completed the community in 2023 and tasked Placemakr with operating the property.
The six-story apartment building offers 62 units in studio and one- and two-bedroom units ranging range from 386 to 767 square feet. The fully-furnished units were built with bed-bath parity, free-WiFi, individual washers and dryers, stainless steel appliances and smart TVs. Some units offer balconies, while amenities include a fitness room, 24/7 onsite staff and hospitality services like a la carte cleaning.
Located at 1324 N. Capitol St. NW, residents are within walking distance to the NoMa metro station on the Red Line and busses and trains at Union Station. Placemakr NoMa is near plenty of restaurant and retail options and the community is a short commute for those who work in D.C. neighborhoods like Capitol Hill, Shaw, Union Market and Bloomingdale.
Flexible living solutions
Before the NoMA location, Placemakr had already developed a strong presence with its apartment-hotels in the Washington, D.C. metro. In the capital city itself, Placemakr opened 2500 Penn and Coda on Half, offering its typical apartment-hotel units, as well as traditional rental apartments. Outside of Washington, D.C., Placemakr has expanded its flexible living model to New York, Atlanta, San Antonio, Texas, Columbia, Md., and Nashville, Tenn. Last year, the company opened the 89-unit Placemakr Wedgewood-Houston, which offers furnished units.
Around the same time that Placemakr opened its latest Nashville community, the company raised another $65 million in funding that will be used to further its strategy to create more apartment-hotels. Late last year, Placemakr converted a traditional multifamily community in San Antonio into a property called The Maverick that uses its flexible living model.
