Ability Housing, in partnership with the City of Orlando and Florida Housing Finance Corp., has completed Village on Mercy, a 166-unit affordable community in Orlando, Fla. The developer broke ground on the $27.4 million project in April 2018, having multiple financing sources.
Located at 1740 Mercy Drive in the Pine Hills submarket, Village on Mercy consists of four three-story buildings featuring studio and one- to three-bedroom units. All apartments cater to residents earning 60 percent or less of the area’s median income, with rent restricted through 2068. Furthermore, 50 percent of the units are reserved to formerly homeless individuals and families. Amenities include a community center, playground, fitness trail and recreation space near Lake Lawne.
Sauer Inc. was the general contractor, while architecture services were provided by Ebert Norman Brady Architects.
The 13-acre property is 5 miles northwest of downtown Orlando in the Mercy Drive corridor, near Colonial Drive and John Young Parkway. There are many shops and restaurant within a 2-mile radius and Central Florida Fair is roughly 1.2 miles south.
