Minneapolis—The Opus Group has announced the start of construction on a four-story, 244-unit luxury multifamily development in Edina, Minn., a southwestern suburb of Minneapolis. Site activity will begin shortly, with the demolition of an existing 94,000-square-foot building that was formerly leased to UnitedHealth Group.
The redevelopment of the property will offer a variety of floor plans, ranging from alcoves to two-bedroom units with a den. Units will range from 585 to 1,350 square feet with high-end finishes appealing to today’s renters. Onsite amenities will include underground parking, a club room, an entertainment kitchen and a fitness center. The amenity space also includes a covered walkway to a courtyard with an enclosed game room and entertainment space, as well as an extensive outdoor pool, bocce ball court and fire pit area.
In addition to onsite amenities, residents will have convenient access to the adjacent regional trail system the Three River Parks District is currently developing, local area employers and Highway 169.
“This project will breathe new life into an unused asset and complete the redevelopment of this previously dormant corporate site along Lincoln Drive in the city of Edina, (…) there is strong demand in the area for high-end housing options in desirable locations near employment hubs and we’re excited to help meet this need in the market.” Phil Cattanach, director of real estate development at Opus Development Co., said in a statement.
The project is a collaboration between Opus and Founders Properties LLC. Opus Development Co. is the developer, Opus Design Build LLC is the design-builder and Opus AE Group LLC is the architect and structural engineer of record. Completion of the new community is slated for spring 2018.
