San Antonio—Oden Hughes, an Austin-based multifamily developer, has broken ground on a 312-unit apartment property in northern San Antonio. Agora Palms Apartments, which will be in the Stone Oak area NW of Loop 1604 and US 281, is scheduled to open in mid-2016.

The property will include one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging from 587 square feet to 1,700 square feet. Common amenities will include a resort-style pool and sundeck, a 24-hour fitness center, movie theater and dog park and dog washing station. Rental rates are expected be between $897 and $2,024 a month.

“San Antonio is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, and we expect its strong, diversified economy to continue to add jobs and attract new residents,” Oden Hughes managing director Mac McElwrath told MHN. “San Antonio is also one of the top destinations in the nation for young people, with a Millennial population that increased by nearly 30 percent from 2010 to 2013 and continues to grow.”

The nearly 18-acre property is adjacent to the Stone Oak Medical Center, which includes two hospitals and nearly 50 private medical practices. Also close by is the Ridgewood Business Park, a 122-acre master planned business development anchored by the corporate headquarters of Fortune 100 energy company Tesoro Corp.

Oden Hughes Taylor will serve as the project’s GC. Oden Hughes Management will lease and manage the property.
